The first event of its kind in Southern Oregon, Rogue Valley Earth Day strives for Zero-waste!
You can help us make a zero-waste event by bringing a durable beverage container, and leaving disposable cups and other one-time-use items behind.
All recyclables are collected and sorted at volunteer-staffed Zero-waste stations.
Vendors are required to use biodegradable dishware, made from bagasse, which is collected separately and composted. Compostable materials are shredded with an electric shredder.
Silverware purchased from thrift stores are used at the food concessions; no disposable utensils are permitted. They are collected separately and washed by volunteers
Most importantly, steps are taken to stop waste before it starts.
- Exhibitors are provided with suggestions and tips on ways to reduce the waste they make.
- Food vendors are asked to serve hand-held foods that require less disposable.
- The exhibitor application process is conducted via the web to reduce use of paper.
- Crafts are made from reclaimed materials.
